It is a popular tradition in the English-speaking countries and probably arose in the early fifteenth century mythological creature of evil nature. The popular story describes as capable of sabotaging gremlins all types of machinery. This perception of creatures originated, for example, the British pilots of the Royal Air Force (RAF) service in the Middle East during World War narrate a story that tried to attribute the frequent accidents that happened in their flights to action of these fantastic creatures. It was said that because the gremlins were animals that destroyed everything, its existence could explain airplane crashes without they were attacked. Alluding to the same story, but with exactly the opposite sign, also used as a mascot to bring good luck to the crew of the Air Force missions over Germany.
